Happy Christmas!

None of this American PC stuff, Happy Christmas is the standard over here.

Christmas holiday started at 5 o'clock Friday evening for me. I was one of the last people to leave my office. My last day at the cider maker was ridiculously crazy! I'll save details on why last day until later. The night before was the department Christmas party, and I had a great time. Any night of dancing until 2 in the am is a good night, especially given that I only do that once every, hmmmm, five years or so! It did make my last day quite a bit more difficult though.

I also experienced a company Christmas lunch, which was lovely. Roast beef, ham and turkey or lamb for main, two kinds of potatoes, petite chou (brussel sprouts - they are called brussel sprouts here but I like to call them petite chou), carrots and turnips, gravy, and a particularly good cheese cake for dessert (Christmas pudding and mince pies as well, but one dessert was plenty).

I had felt particularly organised this year, but somehow Christmas still snuck up on us, and I can't believe it is 22 December. But house is (mostly) decorated, shopping is done (not wrapped), ham is cooked - more on that in a minute, so what more is necessary really.

It turns out that I worked for a particularly generous company in terms of Christmas, besides the Christmas lunch (and company work party that I didn't attend and department party that I did attend), we got a garage full of several kinds of beverages (parent company distributes bottled water, juice, sodas and other stuff) and a turkey and ham! We had to go to Clonmel where I worked (an hour away) to get the meats today, but we made a little adventure of it. I then cooked the ham this afternoon - first time cooking a whole ham, so we'll let you know how that went...

One thing that fell through the cracks this year was sending cards! So, this is an e-card to everyone reading. Slim, Kitten and I wish you a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS (or another holiday that you celebrate - you can take the girl out of Seattle....)

Peace, love and joy to you and yours!
